Delete your journal
Deleting your journal removes your account, every entry (private and public), every photo and video, and your blog address from our servers for good.
In the app
- Open Sello and go to Settings.
- Tap Delete journal, type your journal name and confirm.
On the web
- Sign in with your phone and open Settings.
- Under Delete journal, type your journal name, confirm, and approve the deletion on your phone.
If you lost your phone
Install Sello on a new phone and choose Recover with backup key. Then delete it from Settings as above.
No backup key either? Write to us at [email protected] from the email you want us to answer, with your journal name, or use the contact form.
What happens
Your blog goes offline and browsers are signed out right away; everything is deleted for good 7 days later. Until then you can cancel it in the app. After that it can’t be undone, and the journal name stays taken for 30 days so no one can pose as your blog. Export a backup in Settings first if you might want your writing later. Public pages may stay in search engine caches for a while; short-lived server logs expire on their own.
Delete only some of your data
- An entry: open it, tap ⋯ and Delete entry. It goes to the trash.
- Photos and videos you took out of your entries: in the app, Settings > Storage moves the unused ones to the trash.
- A published entry you want off your blog but still in your journal: tap ⋯ and Make private.
- The trash keeps things for 30 days, then deletes them for good. To delete them right away, in the app go to Settings > Open the trash > Empty trash.
